Fluid Filter - A/T: Removal and Replacement

Oil filter, removing and installing 09E, 6 Speed AWD A/T

General repair notes.

Removing 

-

Remove oil pan.

-

Carefully remove ATF filter - A - from transmission.

Installing

Note:

The oil filter seal - A - normally remains in the transmission.

^

If the oil filter is replaced, the seal must first be removed.

^

If the used oil filter is re-installed, this seal can be re-used.

Note this when replacing with a new ATF filter:

The ATF filter only requires replacement when it is damaged.

^

With high mileage, replacement of the oil filter is recommended when the oil pan is removed.

Carefully remove seal for ATF filter - A - from transmission, e.g. using a screwdriver.

Note: 
^

Do not damage sealing surface.

^

The illustration shows seal with mechatronics unit removed.

^

The new ATF filter is supplied with the seal in place.
