Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Front Wheel
Front axle ABS components, removing and installing

location: in engine compartment on left wheelhouse near steering gear mounting. Unclip harness connector from bracket and disconnect.

location: in engine compartment on right-side wheelhousing near steering gear mount. Unclip harness connector from bracket and disconnect.
1. Bolt/washer assembly. Always replace Tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft lb) plus additional 1/4-turn (90°).
WARNING; Loosen or tighten bolt/washer assembly -1- only when the vehicle is standing on its wheels. Risk of accident.
2. Wheel bearing housing. Supplied as replacement part with mounting hole for ABS wheel speed sensor
3. Clamping sleeve. Before installing in wheel bearing housing, coat with brake assembly lube. Press into wheel bearing housing until seated.
4. ABS wheel speed sensor. With sealing boot, Same part for left and right sides, Pull outward to remove. Before installing, coat with brake
assembly lube, then push in by hand until seated. Press sealing boot on until it makes contact with wheel bearing housing.
5. Drive axle with ABS wheel speed sensor rotor. Outer CV joint will be supplied with rotor as replacement part. Before removing, pull wheel
speed sensor out slightly. After installing, press ABS wheel speed sensor back in by hand until seated. Press sealing boot on until it makes contact
with wheel bearing housing.
6. Bracket. Install ABS wheel speed sensor with rubber grommet in bracket and route wiring appropriately on wheelhousing.
7. Bolt. Tighten to 10 Nm (7 ft lb).
