Shift Cable: Adjustments

AT TRANSAXLE

1. Place selector lever in "P" position, then loosen bolts at selector lever cable bracket as necessary until bracket can be moved.
2. Move selector shaft lever at transaxle rearward as far as stop to "P" position. While doing so, pull selector lever cable as shown in Fig. 1.
3. Align selector lever cable free of tension by moving bracket, then tighten bolts to specification.
4. Place ignition switch in On position, then depress and hold brake pedal.
5. Shift selector lever through all ranges and ensure selector lever position agrees with selector lever indicator in instrument cluster.

AT SELECTOR LEVER

1. Remove center console and footwell heating duct.
2. Place selector lever in "P" position, then loosen nut at clamp for selector lever cable.
3. Move selector shaft lever at transaxle rearward as far as stop to "P" position. While doing so, pull selector lever cable as shown in Fig. 1.
4. Markings on selector lever cable bracket must be aligned with center of bolts. Align as necessary.
5. Tighten selector lever cable nut to specification.
6. Place ignition switch in ON position, then depress and hold brake pedal.
7. Shift selector lever through all ranges and ensure selector lever position agrees with selector lever indicator in instrument cluster.
