Steering Gear: Procedures

Power Steering Gear, Emptying

‹› Room temperature must be at least 20° C (68° F) when emptying the steering gear.

Turn the steering pinion in the - direction of the arrow - until it stops.

-

Clamp the steering gear horizontally in a vise.

-

Place a drain pan under the steering gear.

-

Cut through the steering gear where indicated - arrow A -.

Hold the steering gear over the drain pan and let the hydraulic fluid drain. Rotate the steering pinion to the opposite stop if necessary.
