Camshaft: Testing and Inspection

Camshaft axial clearance, checking  

Perform measurement with valve lifters removed and with bearing cap at chain sprocket end and double bearing cap at camshaft sprocket end
installed.

Attach dial gauge with universal dial gauge holder VW 387 to cylinder head.

Wear limit for intake and exhaust camshaft (axial play): no more than 0.20 mm
