Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
Bleeding brake sys using brake filling/bleeder unit V.A.G 1869

Special note regarding vehicles with ABS/EDL

When at least one chamber in the brake fluid reservoir is completely empty (e.g. leaks in braking system) the hydraulic unit must be bled with scan
tool V.A.G 1551 in the "Basic setting" function.

WARNING: 

For vehicles with ABS/EDL:
Ensure that a filling pressure of 1 bar is not exceeded when filling brake fluid using brake filling and bleeder unit V.A.G 1869. 

For this reason the brake fluid pressure must be reduced to 1 bar on brake filling and bleeder unit V.A.G 1869, Refer to V.A.G 1869 Operating
instructions
If the filling pressure exceeds 1 bar it cannot be guaranteed that the hydraulic unit is bled sufficiently.

Introduction of basic setting 

Refer to On Board Diagnostics.

WARNING:  Brake fluid is poisonous and must under no circumstances be sucked via a hose with the mouth. 

Notes:

Bleeding the braking system on vehicles with ABS is carried out in the same way as for vehicles with conventional braking systems.

Use new brake fluid with part No. B 000 700 A (add container index to number).

Brake fluid is poisonous. Due to its corrosive effect brake fluid must not come into contact with paint work.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from the surrounding air and should therefore always be stored in airtight containers.
Rinse off brake fluid spillages, by using plenty of water.
