Locate suspension strut on wheel bearing housing.

Using transmission jack, raise wheel bearing housing until it is possible to insert bolt securing suspension strut to wheel bearing housing.

At the same time, press brake disc in direction of suspension strut by hand, otherwise the shock absorber tube can move off - square and stick in
the wheel bearing housing.

Take out spreader tool - 3424 -.
Further installation of the suspension strut is performed in reverse sequence
Tightening torques:
Coupling link to suspension strut (use new nuts) 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 90°
Wheel bearing housing to suspension strut (use new nut and bolt) ...................................................................................... 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.) + 90°
Removing and installing coil spring
Notes: Note different spring and shock absorber versions; see vehicle data sticker.

Compress coil spring with tensioning device VAG1752/1 until upper spring plate is free.

Unscrew hex nut from piston rod.

Take off individual parts of suspension strut and coil spring with tensioning device VAG 1752/1.

5 - VAG1752/1 Spring tensioner
6 - VAG1752/4 Retainer
Special tool 3186 can be used as an alternative to the tools described above.
