Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Oil pan, removing and installing 

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Electric drill with plastic brush attachment

^

Silicone sealant D 176 404 A2

Removing 

-

Remove center sound insulation panel (arrows).

-

Drain engine oil.

-

Remove bracket -2- for oil return line.

-

Remove oil return line from oil pan.

-

Remove oil pan.

Note:

Use special tool 3185 to loosen and tighten oil pan screws. Remove using 3249 hex ball socket.

Remove oil pan (if necessary, loosen pan by lightly tapping with rubber mallet).

-

Remove sealant remaining on cylinder block with flat scraper.

-

Remove remaining sealant from oil pan (with rotating plastic brush or similar).

WARNING!
Wear eye protection.

-

Clean sealing surfaces: they must be free of oil and grease.
