Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair
Front Exhaust Pipe, Removing And Installing
Removing
NOTE:
-
Avoid excessive bending of the de-coupling element (no more than 10 degrees).

When performing repairs, replace all seals and gaskets as well as self-locking nuts and bolts that have a specified tightening angle.

Remove cover for both Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connectors and pull electrical wire with retaining clips from heat shield (arrows).
-
Pull connector out of cover and disconnect.
-
Unbolt front exhaust pipe from turbocharger.
Vehicles with front wheel drive

Loosen bolted connections on clamp between catalytic converter and middle muffler, then move clamp toward rear.
Vehicles with all wheel drive
-
Unbolt connecting flanges on catalytic converter.

Remove front exhaust pipe.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order, noting the following:

Align exhaust system free of stress.

Check DTC memory:
NOTE: DTCs will have been stored in the memory because connectors have been disconnected. Therefore check and erase the DTC memory
after installing the engine.
