Installing wheel bearing/wheel hub unit on stub axle

Install wheel bearing/wheel hub unit onto stub axle as far as it will go.

-

Install special tool 3420 and pull in wheel hub/wheel bearing unit as far as stop.

-

Remove special tool 3420.

-

Use a new 12-point nut and tighten to 220 Nm.

Driving in protective cap 

Note:

Always replace damaged (dented) protective caps.

Damaged (dented) protective caps may allow moisture to enter the bearing. For this reason it is important to use the tool shown in the illustration.

Installation is in reverse sequence.
