Mass Air Flow Sensor, Removing And Installing

NOTE:  Check if a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is available as a replacement part with or without the housing:

Mass Air Flow Sensor Probe - without housing

Removing

-

Switch off ignition.

-

Disconnect electrical harness connector from Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.

-

Remove both screws from Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70- probe.

-

Carefully remove probe from guide in Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor housing.

Removing

-

Switch off ignition.

-

Disconnect electrical harness connector from Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.

-

Loosen hose clamps and remove air guide from Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.

-

Remove Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70-.

Mass Air Flow Sensor, Installing

For problem-free operation of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -G70- it is very important to observe the following notes and procedures.

NOTE:

-

If the air filter element is very dirty or soaked, dirt particles or moisture may have contaminated the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor - G70- and may
be causing false Mass Air Flow values. This leads to reduced performance, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.

Always use a genuine air filter element.

-

Use a lubricant (silicone-free) for installing the intake hose.

-

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

-

Check the MAF sensor and intake hose (clean air side) for salt residue, dirt, and leaves.

-

Check the intake ducting up to the air filter element for dirt. If any contaminants are discovered, clean the air filter housing (upper and lower parts)
of salt residue, dirt and leaves (if necessary, clean by washing or vacuuming).

If the air filter element was removed, blow out the water in the lower part of the air filter housing with compressed air.

-

If only the probe was replaced individually, tighten the screws.

Torque specification: 4 Nm

Further installation is performed in reverse order.
