Air Injection Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
Combination Valve, Checking

Combination Valve, Checking

Recommended Special Tools, Workshop Equipment, Testers, Measuring Instruments and Auxiliary Items

-

V.A.G 1390 hand vacuum pump

Test Conditions

-

Vacuum lines and hose connections free of leaks.

-

Vacuum hoses not clogged or kinked

-

Pressure hose for Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Motor not clogged or kinked

Test Sequence

-

Disconnect vacuum hose from combi-valve.

-

Connect hand vacuum pump (V.A.G 1390 or VAS 6213 ) to vacuum hose -1- on combi-valve.

NOTE:  Do not use compressed air during following check.

-

Disconnect pressure hose at at Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump motor -arrow- and blow air in with light pressure. Combi-valve must be
closed.

-

Operate the hand vacuum pump.

Combi-valve must open.

If the combination valve does not open or it is constantly open:

-

Replace combi-valve.

-

Erase DTC memory of ECM.  See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Diagnostic Mode

Generate readiness code.  See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness
