V.A.G 1526 portable multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter

Adapter set V.A.G 1594

Wiring diagram

Voltage Supply and Wiring to Control Module, Checking

-

Switch off ignition.

-

Disconnect connector at Charge Air Pressure Sensor.

-

Use adapter cables from (V.A.G 1594) to connect multimeter to terminals 1 + 3 of connector for voltage measurement.

-

Switch ignition on.
Specification: at least 4.5 V

-

Switch off ignition.

If specified value is not obtained, check wire connections to ECM.

Connect V.A.G 1598/31 test box to control module wiring harness.  See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Component
Tests and General Diagnostics/Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test The engine control module remains disconnected.

Check wiring harness between test box and connector for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
