Examples:

30 degrees C corresponds to a resistance from 1500 to 2000 Ohms

-

80 degrees C corresponds to a resistance from 275 to 375 Ohms

If the specification is not attained:

-

Fit a new engine coolant temperature sensor.

If the specification is obtained:

-

Connect test box VAG 1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control module. Do not connect to the engine control module itself.

Test for open circuit and short to positive or Ground in the following wiring connections:

Test for short circuits between the two wires.

-

Correct any open/short circuit as necessary.

If no fault is detected:

-

Fit a new engine control module.
