Brake Caliper: Removal and Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)
‹› Brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)
Removing

Raise vehicle.

Remove wheels.
Only loosen parking brake cable for complete removal of brake caliper => [ Parking Brake Cable to Brake Caliper, Disconnecting and
Connecting ] See: Parking Brake System/Parking Brake Cable/Service and Repair/Parking Brake Cable to Brake Caliper, Disconnecting and
Connecting.

Remove brake pads => [ Rear Brake Pads ] See: Brake Pad/Service and Repair/Rear Brake Pads.
‹› When removing, mark brake pads that will be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven!

Remove brake caliper housing while counter holding at guide pins.

Remove brake caliper housing from brake disc.

Hang brake caliper housing with wire so brake hose is not damaged by weight of brake caliper.
CAUTION!
Do not kink or bend brake lines and brake hose.

Insert Brake Pedal Actuator (V.A.G 1869/2) between brake pedal and driver's seat by pressing brake pedal down at least 60 mm.
