18 - Ribbed belt

Position of ribbed belt on vehicles without air conditioner refer to Fig. 1

Position of ribbed belt on vehicles with air conditioner, refer to Fig. 2

A double ribbed belt is fitted on engines with A/C compressor

Mark direction of rotation before removing

Check for wear

Do not kink

Notes:  Engines with an air conditioner compressor are fitted with a double ribbed belt.

Removing ribbed belt

Notes:  Mark the direction of rotation with chalk or felt pen before removing the ribbed belt. If the belt rotates in the wrong direction when it is
refined, it can break. Ensure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys when installing.
