Remove steering gear bolts - 1 - and pendulum support - 2 -.

For vehicles with 165 kW engine (code: APX), remove rubber mounting at front exhaust pipe.

Apply engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383A with universal mount 1359/2 under subframe.

Remove bolts - 3 - and - 4 - for subframe.

-

If necessary, remove hex nut for securing clamp on stabilizer bar clip (left-side). Tightening torque: 22 Nm

Carefully pry subframe for steering gear from main subframe using a tire iron or similar.

Pay attention to side noise insulation panel and bracket for hydraulic line (left-side) when lowering subframe.

Carefully lower subframe.

When installing, note the following points: 

Before inserting subframe bolts, position steering gear on subframe and insert bolts for steering gear.

Threaded sleeve - 1 - must be seated in hole in subframe.

Commercially available ring insert tools (18 mm), e.g. Stahlwille 732/10 or Hazet 6630c-18, can be used instead of V.A.G 1332/10.
