Approved Engine Oils

From model year 2005, all Audi engines must always use engine oil that expressly conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 (with viscosities
of SAE 5W-40, 5W-30, 0W-40).

Warning: Failure to use engine oil for your engine that expressly conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 can cause engine failure on the
highway that can cause a crash and serious personal injury.

The oil must first conform to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00 in order to keep the vehicle's engine running smoothly and help prevent the
formation of harmful sludge and deposits that can lead to expensive repairs. At the time of this printing, synthetic engine oils are the only ones Audi is
aware of that meet the exacting Audi Oil Quality Standard.

Engine, oil servicing

All scheduled Audi Maintenance services must always use engine oil that conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00. No other engine oils may
be used.
All topping off of engine oil between services must always use engine oil that conforms to the same Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00.

Only if the level of the oil is at or below the minimum mark on the oil dipstick, and no engine oil that expressly conforms to Audi Oil Quality Standard
VW 502 00 specification is available, may you top off with a high quality engine oil, preferably synthetic, that meets ACEA A3, ACEA A5 or ACEA
B5, API SL or ILSAC GF-3 specifications.

Even then, only use viscosity grades SAE 5W-40, SAE 5W-30, or SAE 0W-40. However, during the entire time between oil change intervals, never top
off with more than a total of 0.5 Qt./liter engine oil that does not conform to Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00.
