Connect oil pressure tester V.A.G. 1342 with adapter V.A.G. 1342/14 to bore for oil pressure switch.

-

Screw oil pressure switch -2- into oil pressure tester V.A.G. 1342.

Checking oil pressure switch

-

Connect brown wire -1- of oil pressure tester to Ground (-)

-

Connect voltage tester V.A.G. 1527 B with test leads from adapter set V.A.G. 1594 A to oil pressure switch and battery positive (+)

LED must not light up

If the LED lights up:

-

Replace oil pressure switch.

-

Install power steering pump

-

Install poly V-belt

Note:

Observe oil pressure tester and LED while starting. Switching point of oil pressure switch may already be exceeded when starting.

Start engine.

^

Test lamp must light up at 1.2... 1.6 bar

If the LED does not light up:

-

Replace oil pressure switch.

Checking oil pressure

-

Install power steering pump

-

Install poly V-belt.

-

Start engine.

Minimum oil pressure at idling speed: 2.0 bar

^

Minimum oil pressure at 2000 RPM: 3.0 bar

^

Oil pressure at higher engine speeds: max. 7.0 bar

The pressure relief valve or oil pump is faulty if the specifications are not attained.

Replace oil pump.

Assembling

Assembly is performed in the reverse order. Note the following:

-

Install secondary air injection pump.

-

Install power steering pump

-

Install cross piece.
