Steering column, removing and installing
Note:

New steering columns shipped as replacement part are secured with a transport lock. Remove this transport lock after installation of steering
column.

It is recommended to keep the transport lock. It can be used for removing the steering column.

Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
^
Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.
^
A bearing bushing and a shear bolt are supplied with each new steering column.
^
Insert the bearing bushing in the new steering column and tighten the shear bolt until the head shears off.

Removing

Remove airbag module and steering wheel.

Remove drivers side storage compartment.

Remove bolts - 1 - and height adjustment handle.

Remove bolts - 2, 3 and 4 -.
-
Remove upper and lower parts of steering column trim.
