Remove brake caliper from wheel bearing housing.

-

Secure brake caliper to body with wire.

-

Remove brake disc (disc is secured to hub with phillips-head bolt).

Remove brake disc splash plate.

-

Mark positions of nuts.

-

Remove bottom nuts from ball joint.

-

Remove control arm from ball joint.

-

Press out drive axle.

Note:  Make sure there is sufficient clearance when pressing out drive axle.

-

Remove drive axle from wheel bearing housing and tie up.

Note:  Place engine/transmission jack V.A.G1383/A with universal mount V.A.G1359/2 underneath (to prevent risk of parts dropping out when
pulling out wheel hub and wheel bearing).
