Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair

Undamaged Quarter Glass, Removing

Remove roof trim and side trim.

-

Remove door seal from roof frame and B-pillar in area of quarter glass.

-

Drill heads off of pop rivets on edge molding, starting from B-pillar to approx. center of door, and knock out shanks.

Carefully remove edge molding from retainer clips using a plastic wedge, starting from the bottom.

-

Drill heads off of rivets at top and bottom of window, and knock out rivet shanks.

CAUTION:  Do not bend edge molding.

Starting at B-pillar and moving along roof frame, use electric cutter V.A.G. 1561 A and cutter V.A.G. 1561/11 (with adjustable roller stop) to cut
through adhesive bead.

-

Cut through adhesive bead along lower edge of window in the same way.
