Axle Oil, Draining or Filling after Repairs

‹› The axle oil in the bevel box must only be drained for a repair. Changing oil is not intended.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Oil Collection and Extraction Device (VAG 1782)

‹› Protective glasses

Procedure

‹› Move vehicle onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a work pit so that it stands absolutely horizontal.

‹› Place selector lever in position "P", engage parking brake. 

‹› The engine is switched off.

Remove the front - 1 - and rear - 2 - noise insulation.

Place the oil collection and extraction device ( VAG 1782) under the transmission.

CAUTION!
Risk of injury due to hot axle oil.

‹› Wear protective eyewear.

‹› Wear acid-resistant protective gloves.
