Remove nuts - 2 -.

Remove Battery Interrupt Igniter (N253) -  5 -.

CAUTION!
‹› Before handling belt tensioner units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity

". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Release electrical connector - 3 - on Battery Interrupt Igniter (N253) using a screwdriver -  4 -.

Installation

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

CAUTION!
‹› Battery Interrupt Igniters (N253) are pyrotechnic components. The same safety measures apply as with airbags. Observe safety

precautions for work on airbags. Refer to => [ Airbag System General Safety Precautions ] See: Service Precautions. 

‹› Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This

can be done by touching door striker, for example.

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may
deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Connect battery with ignition switched on.

To complete, check DTC memory for airbag control module using and perform the required work steps if necessary.
