Wheel Bearing: Removal and Replacement
Wheel Bearing Unit

Wheel Bearing Unit

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Angle Wrench (V.A.G 1756)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

-

Remove drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint ] See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft
Assembly/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Suspension/Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint or => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint
] See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front
Suspension/Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint.

-

Remove the brake caliper and secure it to the body using wire.

-

Remove the ABS speed sensor. See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems

-

Remove disc brake.

-

Remove bolts - arrows -.

-

Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.

CAUTION!
‹› Avoid contaminating with dirt and damaging the seal when setting down/storing. 

The wheel bearing - 1 - must always face up.
