Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Brake Master Cylinder and Brake Servo, Assembly
Notes: Complete master cylinders and brake servos can be replaced independently of each other.
1. Brake servo

The necessary vacuum is obtained from the intake manifold
^
Functional check:

With engine switched off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust vacuum in unit)

Depress brake pedal with average foot pressure, hold and start engine. If servo unit is working properly, pedal will be felt to give slightly
under foot (servo assistance becomes effective).

If faulty replace complete.

Separating from brake pedal, Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly, Service and Repair.

Removing and installing, Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster, Service and Repair.
2. Cap
3. Brake fluid reservoir
4. Sealing plug
^
Moisten with brake fluid and press into reservoir
5. Retainer pin
^
Insert through brake master cylinder
6. Brake master cylinder
^
Cannot be repaired. If faulty, replace complete.
7. Self - locking hexagon nut,Tighten to 20 Nm
8. Heat shield
9. Self - locking hexagon nut, Tighten to 20 Nm
10. Sealing ring
^
Replace
11. Sealing plug
12. Vacuum hose - Insert into brake servo unit
13. Gasket
^
For brake servo
14. Self locking hexagon nut, Tighten to 30 Nm
15. Bellows
16. Brake line connection
^
Brake master cylinder/primary piston circuit to hydraulic unit
17. Brake line connection
^
Master brake cylinder/secondary piston circuit to hydraulic unit
