Power steering gear

Servicing is restricted to replacement of tie rods and rubber boots.

Checking center position
Loosening and tightening tie rods

Open large clip on rubber boot and pull back boot.

Counterhold with open-end wrench (21 mm) when loosening and tightening.
Checking center position of steering gear

Measure distance - a - to check whether steering gear is in center position.
Check distance - a - on left side of steering gear.
a - = 33.5 mm; adjust if necessary by turning steering pinion.
Installing boot

Check boot for wear (slits, tears) and check sealing surfaces for dirt.
Note: Take care not the twist the boot on installation (illustration shows incorrect installation).
