Removing

Move passenger's seat all the way back and put backrest at a 45° angle.
CAUTION!
On vehicles with Front Passenger's Airbag -Off- Key Switch (E224), follow safety precautions for working on airbags. Refer to => [

Open glove compartment cover - 1 -.
‹› If glove compartment cover does not open, it can be opened using the emergency release. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment Cover Emergency

CAUTION!
‹› Observe safety precautions for work on airbags. Refer to => [ Airbag System General Safety Precautions ] See: Service Precautions.

Switch off ignition.

Clamp off ground wire at battery with ignition switched off.

If present, remove CD changer.

Remove bolts - arrows -.

Remove glove compartment far enough that all electrical connectors can be disconnected.
CAUTION!
‹› Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This
can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Disconnect the connector on the central connector.

Disconnect knee airbag connector (yellow).
