Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A ) with Universal Transmission Adapter (V.A.G 1359/2 )
Removing
‹› A twin pillar vehicle hoist should be used when working on the driveshaft.
‹› Before removing, mark the positions of all parts in relation to each other. Re-install in the same position otherwise imbalance will be excessive, the
bearings could be damaged causing rumbling noises.
‹› Do not kink driveshaft, only store and move when fully extended.

Remove the floor panel crossmember - arrows -, if equipped.
CAUTION!
Risk of damaging decoupling elements.
‹› Do not bent decoupling elements in front exhaust pipe more than 10°.

Separate the exhaust system at clamping sleeve - 1 -.

Tie up the front exhaust pipe to the floor panel.

Remove the exhaust system rear section. Refer to =>
Engine Mechanical 26 Description and Operation.

Loosen driveshaft intermediate bearing bolts - arrows - approximately 2 turns.
