Rain Sensor: Service and Repair
Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397, Removing And Installing
Removing
-
If the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397 is replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding".

Pry off cover - 1 - at upper mirror base - arrows -.

Remove electrical harness connector from bracket.

Unplug electrical connection - 2 -.

Turn rear view mirror on mirror base - 1 - counterclockwise - arrow - as far as stop.

Remove interior mirror from holding plate.

Unplug electrical connection - 2 -.

Release retaining clips - arrows - using small screwdriver and remove Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397 - item 1 -.
NOTE: If the Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397 was loosened, it must be replaced because the silicon pad on the top side of the sensor is
destroyed when it is removed from the windshield.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Thoroughly clean windshield from remainder of silicone pad.
