CAUTION!
The heat gun, shear bolts, and parts of the protective housing will become extremely hot. Use extreme caution when working with or
handling these parts to avoid personal injury.
‹› The threads of the shear bolts - 3 and 4 - have been coated with a locking compound and must be heated to be removed.
‹› The shear bolts - 3 - installed in the Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623) do not require heating. Only heat the shear bolts - 4 - that are not
installed in the Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623).

Using a Heat gun set at its lowest setting, heat the shear bolt for approx. 20 to 25 seconds.

Remove the shear bolt with locking pliers. Discard the used shear bolts.
Repeat the previous steps for the second shear bolt.

Remove the protective housing - 2 and 5 - from the Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623) - 1 -.
