Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module

If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine. 

Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.

Removing

-

Disconnect battery ground wire => Electrical Equipment

 27 Removal and Installation.

-

Observe airbag system safety precautions => Body Interior

 69 General Information.

-

Remove steering column switch module => Electrical

Equipment 96 Removal and Installation.

-

Remove bolt - arrow - (2 Nm) below spiral spring. 

The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) is secure to steering column module with two spring retainers. 

-

Release springs - 1 - and - 2 - with a small screwdriver.

-

Remove Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) downward from steering column module.
