Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Pry Lever (80 - 200)

‹› Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1921)

‹› Hose Clamp Pliers (VAS 6340)

Removing

-

Drain coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] See: Service and Repair/Procedures. 

-

Remove fan shroud. Refer to => [ Fan Shroud ] See: Fan Shroud/Service and Repair. 

-

Remove coolant hose by loosening the hose clamp - 1 -. 

-

Disconnect the mass air flow sensor - 2 -.

-

Detach upper part of air filter housing - arrow - and remove air filter insert.

-

Remove bolts - arrows - and lower section of the air filter housing.

-

Disconnect electrical connector - 3 -.
