Camshaft: Service and Repair

Camshafts

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Puller (T40001)

‹› Counter-Hold Tool (3036)

‹› Sealant Remover (commercially available)

‹› Sealant

Removing

‹› Sealing surfaces on guide frame at bottom and on cylinder head at top must not be worked.

‹› Camshaft bearings are integrated in the cylinder head and guide frame. Before removing guide frame, tension on toothed belt must be released.

‹› Replace the camshaft seal and cover when the guide frame is removed.

Remove the camshaft adjuster. Refer to => [ Camshaft Adjuster ] See: Variable Valve Timing Actuator/Service and Repair/Camshaft Adjuster.

Remove the toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] See: Timing Components/Timing Belt/Service and Repair/Toothed Belt.

Loosen camshaft toothed belt sprocket bolt with the counterhold tool (3036).

-

Remove camshaft toothed belt sprocket with the two arm puller (T40001) and claws (T40001/6) and (T40001/7).
