Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Rear
Rear brake pads, replacing
remove wheels
mark re-usable brake pads when removing
Note:
Reinstall pads in same position. otherwise braking effect will be uneven.
unscrew brake caliper housing
remove brake pads
WARNING: Before turning back pistons, siphon off some brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir. Use bleeder bottle or a plastic container
only used for brake fluid.
Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be siphoned by mouth!
CAUTION: Brake fluid must not come into contact with paintwork.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from air and must be replaced every 2 years.
Only use new unused DOT 4 brake fluid according to MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 116. Do not add or mix DOT 5
silicone type brake fluid with the brake fluid in car, as severe component corrosion may result. Such corrosion could lead to brake
system failure.
install piston"by rotating to the right and applying firm pressure
Note:
To screw in piston, two opposite studs on special tool 3131 should be filed off.
install brake pads
attach brake caliper housing (arrows) and tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft lb).
