Cruise Control Bushing

Dear Audi Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Audi has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1990 and 1991 model Audi V8 vehicles equipped with cruise control.
Our records show that your Audi V8 is one of the vehicles affected by this action.

Defect Description

Audi has found that a bushing used in the vehicle's cruise control deteriorates over time and causes a control rod to bind and no longer move freely. A
binding rod could impede the return of the throttle plate to its full idle position. If the throttle plate does not fully return the vehicle will be more difficult
to control. This condition could cause or contribute to an accident.

Remedy

Your authorized Audi dealer will install an improved rod bushing in your cruise control system.

Repair Schedule

Replacement bushings, as well as all necessary repair instructions, will be available at authorized Audi dealers on or about May 30, 1996.

Anticipated Repair Time

The replacement of the bushing may take approximately 1 hour. The work will, of course, be free of charge.

What You Need To Do

It is important that you contact the Service Manager of your authorized Audi dealer and schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Please present the
enclosed authorization form, which identifies your vehicle to your dealer, when you present your Audi for recall service.

Precaution You Can Take

Prior to having your vehicle corrected, we request that you do not use or engage the cruise control feature in your vehicle.

Lease Vehicle

If the vehicle identified in this recall is a leased vehicle and you, the lessor and registered owner, receive this notice, please forward this information by
first class mail to the lessee.
