Coolant Temperature Sensor / Switch HVAC: Testing and Inspection

Engine Temperature Sensor

TEST CONDITIONS

-

Fuses OK (check according to wiring diagram.

-

Ambient temperature above 10° C (50° F).

-

Engine at normal operating temperature.

-

Vehicle not parked in direct sunlight.

Use Chart 3 to determine calculated engine coolant temperature.

EXAMPLE:  If Channel 6 displays a code of 187 on Control head, calculated temperature according to Chart 3 is 25°C (77°F).

NOTE:  The Engine temperature sensor is not equipped on all models (to be phased in). For vehicles without coolant temperature sensor (G62), view
A/C control head. Channel 6 will display a code of 255 for open circuit.
