Heater Core Case: Service and Repair

REPLACE

NOTE:  On air bag equipped vehicles, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove hood.
Remove windshield wiper assembly, refer to Wiper Motor, Service and Repair," then the cap from engine coolant overflow bottle.

Remove heater retaining band (arrow 1)
Remove vacuum hoses from vacuum servo motors.
Clamp off heater hoses to heater core then remove (arrows).
Remove all retainers between body and heater.
Remove heater box.

Note: Before installing heater box always replace self adhesive gasket. When connecting water hoses the lower connection on heater core is
connected to the hose going to the water pump.

Remove silicone rubber sealant from heater core inlet/outlet area, then separate housing halves.
Remove heater core from housing.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
