About BMW

BMW grew out of an aircraft-engine maker founded in Bavaria in 1910 and reorganised in 1916. Today it also owns the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands.

BMW manuals here are listed by chassis code (the "E" number), which identifies the generation:

• 3 Series: E30 (1982–1994), E36 (1990–2000), E46 (1997–2006), and E90 saloon, E91 Touring, E92 coupé and E93 convertible (2004–2013).
• 5 Series: E60 saloon and E61 Touring (2003–2010).

BMW parts in other makes

• Mini has been a BMW brand since 2000. From 2007 the Cooper and Cooper S use the N12 and N14 "Prince" engines, developed with PSA Peugeot Citroën.
• The Range Rover L322 was developed under BMW ownership. Early cars used a BMW V8 until the 2006 model year and BMW's M57 diesel until 2007.
