1 Series E81 116i (N43) 3-door
Crank engine at central bolt in direction of rotation to firing TDC
position of cylinder no. 1.
Secure special tool 11 8 692 with special tool 11 8 693 .
Position special tool 11 8 691 on twin surface of exhaust and
inlet camshafts and secure to special tool 11 8 692 .
Crank engine at central bolt and secure flywheel with special tool
11 5 120 in firing TDC position of cylinder no. 1.
Automatic transmission only
Illustration does not show automatic transmission.
Important!
On engines with automatic transmissions, there is shortly
before the special tool bore (1) for the TDC position a large
bore (2) which can be confused with the special tool bore.
If the flywheel is secured in the correct bore (1) with the special
tool 11 5 120 , the engine can no longer be moved at the
central bolt.
Note:
The engine cannot be cranked while the central bolt is slackened.
The engine remains secured with special tool 11 5 120 .
Remove inlet and exhaust adjustment unit.
