Observe grinding stage of main bearing journals.
Note:
Pilot bearing shell for crankshaft is installed at bearing
position 4 or at bearing position 5.
Bearing position for axial alignment can be recognized by
machining stage (1).
Important!
Bearing position for axial alignment on crankshaft must match
bearing position for axial alignment in crankcase.
Insert pilot bearing shell (2) in crankcase.
Production crankshaft identification:
The numbers featured in the illustration denote the crankshaft
main bearing positions 1 to 5.
Production crankshaft identification:
The numbers shown in the picture denote the bearing shell
classification (colour) for the respective bearing position from
1 to 5 in the lower crankcase.
Depending on the identification on the crankshaft, yellow-, green-,
or red-coded bearing shells are installed at the relevant bearing
position.
