According to the directives issued by the manufacturer, the steering gear should be replaced after an accident if any
of the following points are applicable.
Damage, lasting deformation or fractures to:
o
wheels, if result of wheel alignment is negative
o
suspension struts, steering knuckles and wheel carriers
o
wishbones
o
struts or diagonal members or stabilisers with this function
o
bolting points for wheel guidance elements on body
o
front axle carrier
o
steering arms
o
track rods
o
steering gear mountings
o
Steering column
o
Visible or otherwise detectable damage on the steering gear
o
Impermissible increase in torque and a seizing of the steering gear when the steering wheel is turned from stop
to stop (without hydraulic assistance)
o
Permissible tolerances for wheel alignment exceeded
The points marked have been deemed to be damaged as a result of the accident described above.
Important:
Safety components whose function is impaired could cause the vehicle's type approval to be invalidated!
The customer / insurer does not accept the replacement of the steering gear as directed by the manufacturer, and
thereby assumes sole responsibility for the continued operation of the steering gear in the above vehicle, including
any technical or legal consequences.
