Situation:
New cable cabinet films
In past years the wide variety and number of plug connections as well as the
electrical/electronic systems in motor vehicles have increased at a steady rate.
Consequently, the volume of adapter leads as well as testing devices and equipment has
also increased. This in turn has lead to ever increasing disorganisation in the existing cable
cabinet.
By retaining the storage arrangement concept implemented to date, in future it will be
difficult to locate adapter leads as well as testing devices and equipment or to allocate all
cable cabinet films without the need for constant revision of the storage arrangement. For
this reason, the storage arrangement has been reorganised and corresponding changes
have been implemented with regard to the cable cabinet films.
The new cable cabinet films have been brought in line with the special tool films in the tool
cabinet.

The setup of the new cable cabinet films is shown in Enclosure 1.

The new cable cabinet films offer the following advantages for the storage arrangement:

No positioning problems with regard to future additions

Simple and fast location of adapter leads and test equipment with the aid of a register
(list of all tool numbers and storage location in the cable cabinet)
The procedure for locating the adapter leads and test equipment in the cable cabinet is
described in more detail in Enclosure 2.

The storage locations of the adapter leads as well as test devices and equipment will soon
also be incorporated in the Technical Information System (TIS).
New cable cabinet
To further facilitate clear storage of equipment the existing adapter leads have been
distributed over two cable cabinets (cable cabinet I and II).
The new storage arrangement concept is continued in the cable cabinet II while additionally
offering sufficient space for storing future adapter leads.
Conversion kit for existing cable cabinet
A conversion kit is available for the purpose of adapting existing cable cabinets to the new
storage arrangement concept.
