Venting cooling system and checking for
water leaks (N47)
Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
Important!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must
protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an
alternator malfunction.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
•
Fill cooling system
•
Checking cooling system for water leaks
Note:
When adding coolant, it is absolutely essential to adhere to the
following sequence:
1.
Engine off
2.
Remove cap from expansion tank (ET)
3.
Open bleed screw at expansion tank
4.
Set heating to MAX (this setting is retained up to Point 12)
5.
Slowly fill expansion tank with coolant up to MAX
6.
Close bleed screw at expansion tank
