Removing and installing/sealing or replacing
complete main flow oil filter (M47TU / M47T2)
Important!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must
protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator
malfunction.
Note:
The preliminary work for removing the main flow oil filter is
described in the repair instruction
Removing oil-water heat exchanger.
Note:
For E46 automatic:
Remove fan cowl.
Note:
For E46 manual:
Remove radiator blind.
Remove main flow oil filter cover, remove oil filter element and
drain off engine oil.
