1 Series E87 118i (N43) 5-door
Install and tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque: 11 11 2AZ
.
Install and tighten down screws (2).
Tightening torque: 11 11 3AZ
.
Check axial play.
If permitted axial clearance is exceeded, check and if necessary
replace crankshaft, guide bearing shells and crankcase.
Axial clearance.
Assemble engine:
•
Install all pistons.
•
Install radial shaft seal at rear.
•
Install flywheel.
•
Install cylinder head.
•
Install timing chains.
•
Adjust valve timing.
•
Install radial shaft seal at front.
Important!
The following text describes installation and sealing between
the engine block and radial shaft seal.
The engine block will not be leakproof at the outside of the
radial shaft seal if you fail to comply with the individual work
steps and the work sequence.
