Venting cooling system and checking for
water leaks (N43)
Warning!
Danger of scalding!
Open sealing cap only after engine has cooled down.
Open vent plug (1) on coolant expansion tank.
Open vent plug on oil-water heat exchanger.
Vehicles with independent heating only:
Remove suction filter housing.
Open vent screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 00 4AZ

Slowly fill coolant expansion tank with recommended coolant.
Close vent screw (1) after coolant emerges.
Installation:
Have a cleaning cloth ready and mop up emerging coolant.

Perform filling operation slowly. After filling, close cap and
vent plugs.
Use only recommended coolant.
Check cooling system for leaks.

Turn on ignition, do not start engine.
3.
Set heater to maximum temperature, activate A/C system (if
fitted), then reduce fan to lowest setting.
4.
Press accelerator pedal to floor for approx. 10 seconds. The
venting cycle via the electric coolant pump lasts approx. 10
minutes.
