Water marks in hood covering/roof lining

Complaint:
Water marks in hood covering and/or on roof lining.
Cause:
The soft top was folded away in the closed soft-top compartment while it was wet.
Note:
Due to its design, it is possible for the soft-top compartment not to be completely
dry when the hard top is fitted - it is also not ventilated.
Affected
vehicles:
E30/C, E36/C, E36/7, E46/C, E52
Remedy:
In case of complaint about water marks, customers' attention should be drawn to the notes
on care in the Owner's Handbook / care instructions

Do not fold the soft top away for a prolonged period of time ....
If water marks occur despite this, they can easily be removed without causing damage
(please refer to Procedure).
For this reason, the warranty parts centre (GWTZ) will in future return soft top covers and
roof linings with water marks to the dealership and will reject reimbursement through
warranty. The same procedure is to be followed in export markets.
Procedure:
Water marks on soft top cover:
These should be removed using the BMW convertible top cleaning agent. Finally rinse the
soft top down with plenty of water.
Water marks on roof lining:
These can be removed with a soft cloth (microfibre cloth) and BMW interior cleaner.
