3 Series E36 318i (M42) CONVER
Mount retaining bracket (1) with bolts and nuts (2). Push on sheet
metal nut (3).
Converting the headliner:
Mark the headliner in the area or the retaining bracket (2).
Only pull off the headliner in the area of the
retaining bracket (2) (do not pull out of the locks).
Apply fabric adhesive tape (3) with a length of 160 mm to the top
and underside of the headliner and press on firmly (remains in the
vehicle).
Cut out the piping (1) of the headliner plus 10 mm with a pair of
snippers.
Protect the cut-out area (4) against unraveling by applying fabric
adhesive tape and pressing on firmly (also remains in the vehicle)
Press on headliner (1).
Do not pull off fabric adhesive tape (2) (remains in the vehicle).
Stretch the headliner (1) outward until it is free of folds in the area
(A) of the retaining bracket.
