General instructions on dismantling and
repairing engine block/crank drive (M42)
Note:
In contradiction to the M40 engine block, the block of an M42
engine must not have a reactor for supply of oil to cylinder
head.
Caution!
A check valve with rubber-lined spacing sleeve for suply of oil
to the cylinder head is installed in the engine block of M42
engines produced since 9.92. Install check valve (1) with its
collar facing the crankcase in oil-supply channel for cylinder
head. Insert rubber-lined spacing sleeve (2).
Caution!
If check valve (1) was installed in the wrong direction, it would
block the supply of oil to the cylinder head.
